Fitness Industry Conference Presentations
Adam has 20 years fitness industry experience and 13 years as a physiotherapist. His unique series of presentations aims to bridge the gap between the 2 industries and allow trainers to more effectively deal with clients with pain or injuries. His presentation style is relaxed and humorous and he communicates his messages in an easy to understand manner.

The following are Adams most popular Fitness Industry conference presentations:
1) Exercise for Arthritis This presentation by prominent Perth physiotherapist, Adam Floyd, will focus on current research into arthritis and the beneficial effects of exercise. Adam will discuss what the literature suggests in terms of cardio, resistance and proprioceptive exercise for (primarily) osteoarthritis. Specific case studies from Adams many older clients will be presented along with suggestions to create your own safe program for your clients. Reference will also be made to the different types of arthritis. If you work with older clients this seminar is for you.
2) Myofascial Pain and Self Myofascial Release
A practical seminar and workshop where Australian physio Adam Floyd discusses the mechanics of myofascial pain, the causes, the location of common trigger points and how to release them in a PT environment. And to know when to refer on.
3) Stretching: Valid Tool or a Waste of Time In this lecture/workshop Adam Floyd examines the validity of stretching as a part of exercise and rehabilitation. Participants will learn about the current research trends and findings. Adam will examine who needs to stretch with a focus on postural types, injury history and exercise mode. Practical components will include client assessment, stretching methods and stretches for key muscles, fascia and joints. Stretching aids and tools will also be examined. Come and “limber up” at this dynamic workshop.
4) Why half of your clients have knee pain Patello-femoral pain (or tracking problems of the kneecap) can occur in up to 50% of people. This seminar, conducted by Physiotherapist and Exercise Physiologist Adam Floyd focuses on the anatomy and pathology of PFP, the biomechanical causes and corrective exercise prescription. This is one area personal trainers can make a real difference in with the right exercises.
5) Boot camp blunders – Injury management for trainers Soft tissue overuse injuries are extremely common when clients increase their activity levels suddenly. How many new clients have you lost from a new boot camp type program or in the first 6 weeks of personal training? In the seminar Adam Floyd presents a model for overuse injury causes and provides practical advice on how you can prevent them, or manage them when they occur. Tools are provided for trainers to use with their clients.
6) Shoulder Injuries in the gym Shoulder impingement syndrome is very common, particularly with above head exercises and more so in older clients. In this seminar Perth Physiotherapist Adam Floyd discusses the anatomy and pathophysiology of shoulder impingement and presents useful screening and corrective exercises. He also discusses which exercises to avoid in clients with shoulder issues.
7) I love big butts... The gluteal muscles, particularly glut max, are some of the biggest in the body yet almost all patients presenting with hip, pelvis, knee or lumbar problems have poor gluteal function. In this practical seminar Adam discusses is theories on why gluteals are dysfunctional and how we can go about re-training this important muscle group.
